Abstract
The rapid expansion of social media platforms has significantly transformed the way Indian consumers interact with brands and make purchasing decisions. Social media marketing has emerged as a powerful promotional tool that actively influences consumer perception, brand engagement, and purchasing behavior. Platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and X (formerly Twitter) have reshaped traditional communication channels by enabling interactive and personalized marketing strategies.
This study examines the impact of social media marketing on consumer buying behaviour within the Indian market, focusing on how digital advertisements, influencer promotions, peer reviews, and online content shape consumer preferences. The research is based on primary data collected from 100 respondents in India using a structured questionnaire, supported by secondary sources such as academic journals and websites. The findings reveal that social media, particularly Instagram, plays a major role in influencing purchase decisions, especially among young Indian users. Factors such as promotional discounts, visual presentation, and customer reviews were found to strongly affect buying behaviour across diverse demographic segments in the country. The study concludes that social media marketing has become an essential component of modern marketing strategies in India and continues to heavily influence consumer decision-making processes. This research paper examines the impact of social media marketing on consumer buying behavior, focusing on how digital engagement, influencer marketing, online reviews, and targeted advertisements affect final purchase decisions.
