Abstract

Managing library resources efficiently remains a major challenge for academic institutions. Traditional book return systems are often dependent on manual verification by library staff, leading to inefficiency and errors. This paper presents the design and implementation of an RFID-based Book Dropbox System for college libraries, leveraging Internet of Things (IoT) components to automate book return and database updates. Each book is tagged with an RFID label at the time of issue. A dropbox, equipped with an ESP32 microcontroller and RFID reader, automatically scans returned books, verifies the data against a MySQL database, and updates the return status through a web interface built using PHP and Bootstrap. The proposed system reduces manual workload, improves accuracy, and enhances the student experience in library operations.
